Cool Edit Pro is an audio editing program that is about 25 years old. It was created by Syntrillium Software. After being sold to Adobe, Cool Edit Pro became Adobe Audition.
When the need arose to edit an audio recording, we utilized a Cool Edit Pro and successfully installed it on a Windows 11 system.
Initially, we assumed it wouldn't work on a modern system. However, the program runs perfectly. The only requirement was that we had to manually adjust the size of the temporary files. We didn't use the Multitrack feature; we just performed simple audio editing using filters. We were impressed and got the impression that, even after 25 years, it still holds up and is better than many current free audio editing programs available today.
